About Lame Deer Junior high and high school library
Library Media/Information Literacy Philosophy
The school library media center is where students learn to love literature and spark their intellectual curiosity. Students also discover the freedom to read and explore the world (Montana Library Media Content Standard 5). Students will develop skills to use information safely, ethically and legally (Montana Library Media Content Standard 4). Students will learn to problem solve, locate resources, determined quality resources, present their finds and reflect on what they learned. (Montana Library Media Content Standard 1-3). They will discover new ways to look at the world. Students will learn how to use both existing and emerging technologies.
This library will advocate for intellectual freedom at all times. I will encourage students and staff to come throughout the day to access information, exchange ideas and read for pleasure. When the opportunity presents itself, I will collaborate with the teaching staff to promote research, proper citations, technology use, and a creative space. Our collaboration will also promote reading and developing writing skills that will last students a lifetime.
It is the mission of the Lame Deer Junior High and High School Library Media Centers to ensure that all students are able to use the library effectively to meet their information, their research and their recreational reading needs. A library program should also network with the resources of the larger community-both material and human-in order to make these resources available to students and faculty.
